A Labster Case Study
Arizona State University (ASU) faced the challenge of building the world's first fully online biology Bachelor of Science degree. A key hurdle was delivering advanced, hands-on lab courses remotely, as most existing simulation products were only for introductory levels. To overcome this, ASU partnered with the vendor Labster to utilize their immersive, narrative-driven virtual lab simulations.
The solution implemented by Labster was the co-creation of 30 VR lab simulations for ASU's online courses. The results were highly positive; a student survey showed that 97% felt more confident in their skills, 85% could apply their learning to real-world cases, and 98% wanted to use simulations in addition to or instead of physical labs. Labster provided a scalable resource that saved the university costs, allowed for unlimited student practice, and served as an effective supplementary learning tool that increased student engagement and immersion.
