Alamance Community College boosts lab confidence by 94% with Labster

Alamance Community College instructor Dr. Eddy van Hunnik sought a flexible and reliable solution to supplement his microbiology and genetics curriculum. The previous solution of at-home lab kits was expensive, often arrived late, and did not effectively prepare his diverse student body for their in-person laboratory work. He needed a tool to help students gain lab skills whether they were learning at home or on campus.

The solution was implementing Labster's virtual lab simulations. Dr. van Hunnik integrated two Labster simulations per week to align with and prepare students for their physical labs. The results were highly positive; a survey of 17 students showed 94% felt they gained both knowledge and confidence in their lab skills. The simulations saved the instructor time, reduced student questions during in-person labs, and allowed him to add more face-to-face lab time because the learning process was accelerated.
