University of Wageningen - Customer Case Study

The University of Wageningen’s Department of Agrotechnology and Food Science, led by lecturer Jasper Koehorst MSc., faced the challenge of teaching students who work in groups on both lab and in silico experiments while keeping workflows logical, reproducible, and under departmental control as students graduate. To address this, they adopted Labfolder as their electronic lab notebook to mirror familiar paper journals and provide a structured platform for coursework and final project documentation.

Labfolder was implemented with replicable experiment templates, task assignment and commenting, file import and image annotation, and a continuous “storyline” view that tracks student progress. The result: clearer group coordination and supervision, reduced time spent re-writing protocols, easier assessment of student work, and retained institutional control over research data when students leave.
