The University of Bonn, led by Group Leader Dr. Sebastian Franken, faced the common challenge of coordinating preclinical experiments across multiple researchers while moving from handwritten notebooks to a transparent, searchable digital system. To address documentation, data linking and inventory tracking needs, the team adopted Labfolder’s electronic lab notebook and built workflows using Labfolder’s Material Database.

Labfolder implemented a centralized ELN and material-tracking solution that links primary data to entries and monitors reagent availability and ordering. As a result, documentation became much more transparent, the ability to recover results improved significantly, and the team reports saving a lot of time when compiling interim reports and publications — outcomes Dr. Franken calls “the right decision.”
