A Labfolder Case Study
TU Chemnitz’s Material for Innovative Energy Concepts research group, led by Prof. Dr. Marc Armbrüster, develops materials for power-to-X processes such as sustainable hydrogen generation and methanol energy storage. The team struggled with conventional paper lab books—illegible handwriting, incomplete records, and difficulty sharing and organizing work across subgroups—so they implemented Labfolder to address those challenges.
Labfolder replaced the paper notebook and became central to daily work: the “Task” function tracks progress and to‑dos, the “Comment” function captures ideas and experiment improvements, and easy sharing improves collaboration across team members. As a result, Labfolder has drastically improved the completeness and readability of recorded data, reduced the effort supervisors spend collecting usable records, and proved to be a worthwhile purchase for the group.
