Case Study: Duke University’s Silver Lab improves brain development research collaboration with LabArchives

A LabArchives Case Study

Preview of the Duke University Case Study

Debby Silver’s lab at Duke University uses a two pronged approach to better understand how the brain forms

Duke University's Silver Lab, led by Primary Investigator Debby Silver, faced the challenge of organizing and sharing research data for a team of thirteen members studying brain development. The lab's reliance on traditional paper notebooks for documenting complex genomic and microscopy data was a source of frustration and inefficiency, making it difficult to maintain, back up, and share critical findings.

The lab implemented LabArchives as their solution for online notebooks. This allowed the entire team to securely maintain, back up, and share their research data in a centralized digital environment. The value of the LabArchives solution was proven when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the lab to shut down; researchers were able to continue writing papers and performing data analysis from home because they had uninterrupted remote access to all their work, which was key to their continued productivity.
