Bryn Mawr College - Customer Case Study

The customer, Bryn Mawr College, faced the challenge of transitioning an advanced molecular biology course on CRISPR from an in-person lab setting to a fully remote format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An instructor, Dr. Julia Raizen, needed a way to teach the intricate design aspects of gene editing technology without students having physical access to a laboratory.

The solution was implemented using LabArchives, an electronic lab notebook platform. The instructor created and utilized CRISPR simulation tools and content, which was then added to the LabArchives course content library. This allowed students to learn remotely through design-focused exercises. As a result, about 80% of the course content was successfully delivered online, enabling continued education. The vendor, LabArchives, facilitated the sharing of this new curriculum with other institutions.
