On-Time Wildlife Feeders takes orders before tooling with LA NPDT

On-Time Wildlife Feeders, a family-owned maker of outdoor products, needed prototype enclosure covers for a new electronic feeder to present at a trade show before injection molding tooling was created. Their CAD model was designed for molding, not 3D printing, and required review and correction. They partnered with vendor LA NPDT for a rapid prototyping solution using SLA 3D printing.

LA NPDT reviewed and corrected the model to address issues that would have caused problems in both printing and mass production. They then printed high-quality prototype covers using SLA resin, which provided the necessary fine detail and smooth surfaces. The result was that design flaws were caught on a cheap resin prototype instead of in expensive steel tooling. This allowed On-Time Wildlife Feeders to successfully showcase the product at their trade show and secure orders before production tooling was even cut.
