A LA NPDT Case Study
The customer, Hand Tennis, approached LA NPDT with a hand-made prototype for a new sport glove. Their challenge was to develop a production-ready glove that combined a hard, paddle-like striking face with the wearable comfort of a sports glove. The key engineering hurdle was creating a custom striking pad material that could provide consistent ball rebound and spin, withstand durability testing, and remain manufacturable at scale.
LA NPDT provided a comprehensive solution that included industrial design, CAD engineering, and iterative material development to create a proprietary rubber-plastic blend for the pad. They engineered the glove's architecture for ergonomic fit and solved critical manufacturing issues like stitch durability. The result was a successful product launch, with the glove becoming the official equipment for the new sport of Hand Tennis and even receiving an endorsement from Daymond John. LA NPDT also supported the launch by producing the first sellable articles and a short-run production batch.
