De'Vora prepares Scratch Square for manufacturing with LA NPDT, cutting first-batch upfront investment
De'Vora, a pet products company, engaged LA NPDT to prepare their Scratch Square pet toy for manufacturing. The challenge was that the product's complex single-piece rubber enclosure required an intricate and expensive mold, which threatened to increase the upfront investment and unit cost for production.
LA NPDT applied Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) to the product. They redesigned problematic areas, consolidated components, and worked directly with the manufacturer to solve a difficult inner-core removal process. This solution simplified the tooling and assembly sequence, allowing the first batch of Scratch Squares to be produced with a minimum upfront investment and the product prepared for retail sale.
