Case Study: Tampere University of Technology achieves enhanced teaching, improved student performance and expanded outreach with L-Soft LISTSERV

University of Tampere - Customer Case Study

Tampere University of Technology faced the challenge of delivering continuous, cost-effective instructional materials and maintaining interactive engagement for on-campus and distance learners in its FAST (Foundations in Area Studies for Translators) program. To support lifelong learning, improve outreach to working professionals and graduates, and boost student motivation and performance, the university adopted L-Soft’s LISTSERV® email-list software as a core teaching and communication tool.

L-Soft’s LISTSERV was implemented as per-course mailing lists (e.g., USA1-L@uta.fi), integrated with web resources and used for announcements, article distribution, archived discussions and student Q&A. The LISTSERV-based solution increased student participation and sustained alumni engagement (many subscribers remain on lists for years), produced more sophisticated projects and improved written expression and confidence, expanded access to distance learners, and reduced the cost of delivering instructional materials — demonstrating clear pedagogical and operational impact.
