Syracuse University needed a reliable, scalable way to manage the rapid growth of online communities and class mailing lists across campus. Since 1987 the university has used L-Soft’s LISTSERV to support faculty, students and staff communications, temporary notification lists, and a large volume of class and interest-based lists while keeping administration straightforward and cost-effective.

L-Soft’s LISTSERV provided a robust, automatable architecture and responsive support that let Syracuse scale to about 2,000 hosted lists, deliver nearly 25,000 messages in a single month (April 2004), and add roughly 600 new lists in the past year (more than half for classes). The solution reduced routine administration to about one to two hours a day, proved economical and effective, and helped foster lasting online communities across the university.
