St. John's University Information Center faced the challenge of supporting rapid growth and organization of Human Services–related discussion lists across education, psychology, medicine, disability and support communities. To manage scale, accessibility and collaboration needs, St. John's deployed L-Soft’s LISTSERV® mailing list service to host and coordinate these academic mailing lists.

Using L-Soft’s LISTSERV (including 1.8d web-enabled features), St. John's implemented per-list web pages, searchable archives, and web-based configuration tools, plus an SJUOWNER support list for owners and help. The result—driven by L-Soft—was the world’s largest academic LISTSERV site: nearly 700 lists, about 220,000 subscribers and more than 700,000 messages per day, catalyzing academic collaboration and creating a durable library of current events and resources.
