Dow, a multinational materials science company, wanted to modernize plant maintenance and improve safety, agility, and reliability at its massive Freeport, Texas manufacturing complex. Workers relied on paper procedures, manual coordination, and back-and-forth communication between the field and control room, which slowed operations and increased the risk of human error. Dow partnered with Kyndryl to support its Digital Manufacturing initiative.

Kyndryl helped Dow implement a private LTE network, secure device management, and digital workflows using rugged devices and Microsoft Teams, with support for augmented reality and push-to-talk field communications. The solution digitized process documents, enabled real-time collaboration, and reduced paperwork and delays; in the first four months, Dow completed more than 28,000 digital procedures. Kyndryl’s work helped Dow improve worker safety, cut communication time, and set the stage for rolling the program out to more plants worldwide.
