Schibsted Media Group migrates to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support business expansion

Schibsted Media Group, Scandinavia’s largest media group with 55 brands and more than 5,000 employees, needed to consolidate and scale IT after a string of acquisitions while avoiding costly, inflexible on‑premises infrastructure. To achieve a cloud‑native model and migrate core systems including SAP S/4HANA, Schibsted engaged Kyndryl to design and deliver a comprehensive AWS migration using VMware HCX lift‑and‑shift and rebuilt SAP on EC2.

Kyndryl executed a phased migration of roughly 200 VMware virtual machines across 30 waves into a VMware SDDC on AWS, built a new SAP production landscape (Sweden) with DR in Ireland and implemented monitoring, SRE and automation. The outcome: a fully migrated SAP S/4HANA landscape, improved performance, increased flexibility and scalability, one data center already decommissioned and lower total cost of ownership—enabling faster integration of acquisitions and supporting Schibsted’s growth ambitions.
