Schibsted Media Group migrates ~200 VMs to AWS with Kyndryl

Schibsted Media Group, the largest media group in Scandinavia, faced the IT challenge of consolidating and scaling operations after numerous acquisitions. Their on-premises infrastructure was costly and inhibited the flexibility needed for business expansion. Partnering with Kyndryl, Schibsted sought to migrate its entire IT estate, including VMware systems and SAP S/4HANA, to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to become a cloud-native company.

Kyndryl designed and executed a comprehensive cloud migration solution, using VMware HCX to lift-and-shift approximately 200 virtual machines in 30 phased waves without business disruption. The solution included rebuilding the SAP landscape on AWS. As a result, Schibsted achieved a modern, unified platform that reduced costs, increased flexibility and scalability, and enabled the rapid integration of new acquisitions. Kyndryl's work unlocked new possibilities for future growth and provided Schibsted with a strategic advantage.
