RSA Insurance migrates 10,000 logical volumes with Kyndryl

RSA Insurance, one of the world’s oldest general insurers, faced significant IT risk from its legacy mainframe technology that was losing support. The company needed to migrate its infrastructure to the cloud to enable its digital-first and cloud-first strategies. To accomplish this, RSA engaged Kyndryl to help move its mainframe systems and data.

Kyndryl implemented a hybrid solution, including managed extended cloud IaaS for IBM Z, to migrate RSA's mainframe environments to a secure zCloud platform. The project involved migrating 85 terabytes of data across thousands of volumes and executing over 5,500 test cases. Kyndryl delivered the project ahead of schedule with no business disruption, resulting in an estimated 30% performance gain and significant cost savings for RSA through a move to a variable cost model.
