Mazda Motor Corporation streamlines virtualization 2-3x with Kyndryl

Mazda Motor Corporation, an automotive manufacturer, faced the challenge of modernizing its legacy IT systems to support its CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) initiatives. The company needed to enhance system resiliency, improve integration, and reduce its operational burden, which relied heavily on manual tasks. To achieve this, Mazda partnered with vendor Kyndryl to overhaul its infrastructure and implement a robust disaster recovery solution.

Kyndryl led the project management and provided expert consultancy to design and implement a new cyber recovery solution using Veeam technology. This combined an on-premises disaster recovery site with cloud-based backups. The solution automated recovery mechanisms and streamlined the virtualization platform refresh in a complex multi-vendor environment. As a result, Kyndryl helped Mazda complete two to three times the usual workload in about a year, significantly strengthening business resiliency and reducing reliance on individual operational skills.
