Colonial First State cuts mainframe migration risk with Kyndryl, moving 35TiB with zero incidents

Colonial First State (CFS), an Australian wealth management group, needed to separate its core business systems from its parent entity to become a stand-alone company. The challenge was to complete this complex separation of its mainframe systems, including applications and infrastructure, without disruption to its business operations. Partnering with Kyndryl, the project involved migrating the Fund Management System to Kyndryl's managed data centre environment, which provided a Mainframe-as-a-Service (MFaaS) solution.

Kyndryl implemented a solution leveraging its global offerings, including the Kyndryl Cloud eXchange (KCX) network and zCloud platform. The results were a seamless cutover with zero incidents and no data loss, successfully migrating approximately 35TiB of data. Kyndryl delivered a flexible, cost-effective, and secure mainframe platform, accelerated network deployment from months to days, and built a framework for continuous improvement.
