A Kyndryl Case Study
Canadian Malartic Corporation, a large mining company operating Canada’s biggest open-pit gold mine, needed to migrate its mission-critical JD Edwards enterprise resource planning applications to the cloud. The company required a trusted partner to navigate Oracle compliance requirements, maintain long-term application viability, and support core functions like accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory. Kyndryl, which had already managed the environment since 2016, was selected to help with this high-risk transition.
Kyndryl worked with Oracle to validate support contracts, secure new database and application licenses, and move the JD Edwards applications from IBM Cloud Managed Services to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). By using the same delivery team familiar with the environment, Kyndryl enabled a faster, lower-risk migration, helped Canadian Malartic save thousands in Oracle licenses, and reinstated JD Edwards support for a nominal fee. The project left Canadian Malartic fully compliant with Oracle and with a viable cloud roadmap for its ERP, database, and data management needs.
