The customer, one of the largest German-based retailers, faced a challenge with its fragmented IT infrastructure, which was decentralized across its many international operating companies. This approach prevented the development of new company-wide capabilities. The CIO envisioned a centralized cloud operating model to consolidate applications and reduce costs. Kyndryl was engaged to help plan and execute a migration to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Kyndryl Consult used its Infrastructure Transformation Accelerator framework to analyze workloads and plan the migration. They also created a new Target Operating Model for the retailer to standardize IT processes. The solution implemented by Kyndryl successfully migrated 170 applications across eight countries without business disruption, resulting in a greater than 30% performance enhancement and a more than 20% reduction in deployment lead times for new services.
