Karura Community Sacco, a Kenyan credit union founded in 2017, wanted to scale its membership and improve service delivery but was held back by manual processes, reporting errors, weak interest calculations, and limited digital access for members. It turned to Kwara and its core banking platform, including the Kwara App and USSD channel, to automate key operations and support growth.
With Kwara, Karura Community Sacco automated member onboarding, loan processing, reporting, security, and interest calculations, while also making it easier for members to access services and enroll digitally. The results included membership growth from 800 to 2,800 in two years, assets rising from KES 40 million to KES 185 million AUM, improved regulatory compliance with SASRA accreditation, and the ability to market diversified products to members in 10+ countries.
