A New England College Keeps Hybrid Student Life Active with Kumospace

Mount Wachusett Community College’s Student Life team needed a better way to keep hybrid and remote students engaged and informed about campus activities during 2020 and 2021. After getting tired of Zoom, Director of Student Life Kathy Matson looked for a more intuitive alternative and found Kumospace, an immersive virtual event platform.

Kumospace provided the college with a virtual Student Government Association office using the Office template, complete with interactive features like spatial audio, a whiteboard, and links to other websites. The space gave student leaders a flexible place to hold committee meetings and talk with peers informally, mirroring their on-campus booth and making it easier for students to connect anytime. Mount Wachusett Community College reported that students enjoyed the setup because it felt less formal and more versatile, though no specific numeric impact was provided.
