Calgary Public Library Brings Great Work to the Forefront with Kudos®

Calgary Public Library, a large municipal library system serving a city of 1.3 million with roughly 750–1,000 staff across 21 locations, found through staff surveys that employees didn’t always feel appreciated and that interbranch communication was limited. To address recognition, engagement and information sharing systemwide, the Library selected the Kudos recognition platform as their vendor solution (Kudos client since 2017).

Kudos was deployed across all 21 branches for daily peer recognition, photo- and GIF-enabled posts, and an annual Kudos Awards program, supported by onboarding and manager engagement. Calgary Public Library reports that Kudos increased employee engagement, reduced turnover, strengthened communication and made work visible across the system — helping connect staff at 21 locations and support strategic priorities like belonging and lifelong learning. Kudos continues to be credited as a key tool in building a stronger sense of community and sharing best practices citywide.
