A Kuder Case Study

St. Clair County Schools brings work-based learning to life for 700 eighth-graders with Kuder

St. Clair County Schools sought to implement a meaningful work-based learning program to help students connect their education to real-world careers and postsecondary opportunities. The district partnered with vendor Kuder and utilized the Alabama Career Planning System featuring Kuder Navigator to provide a foundational career planning and exploration platform for its students.

The solution from Kuder enabled the district to build a comprehensive work-based learning framework. This included the "Reality Check" simulation for eighth graders, career exposure events, and a system for students to log experiences in digital portfolios. As a result, student participation in Career Tech pathways saw a drastic increase, and individual success stories emerged, such as a student who seamlessly transitioned from high school into a Ford technician training program and a college degree. Kuder's tools provided the structure for students to turn abstract career ideas into actionable, personalized plans.
