Case Study: NABU engages audiences with an immersive North Sea VR experience by Kubikfoto³

NABU launches North SeaLIFE with Kubikfoto³ after 12 boat trips and 680 nautical miles

NABU – Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V. (NABU) sought to raise awareness about the diversity and fragility of the North Sea's unique habitats. The challenge was to create an immersive, educational experience that would make these remote and protected environments accessible to a broad audience from their homes. They partnered with the digital production studio Kubikfoto³ to develop a WebVR-based solution.

Kubikfoto³ developed "NorthseaLIFE," an interactive WebVR experience featuring 360° underwater video, virtual reality diving, and 3D-rendered environments like a mudflat. The solution included an educational tool for schools and was also deployed as a stationary VR exhibition. The project won a Gold Anthem Award, successfully translating the fascination of the North Sea into a digital format to promote conservation.
