Case Study: SOS International boosts agility and time to market with Kubernetes

A Kubernetes Case Study

Preview of the SOS International Case Study

Using Kubernetes to Provide Emergency Assistance in a Connected World

SOS International, a Danish medical and travel assistance provider, needed to modernize a very fragmented IT landscape made up of Java, .NET, and IBM AS/400 monoliths. As its business shifted deeper into digital services, the company needed a more agile platform and faster time to market. Kubernetes was the vendor behind the platform approach, with Red Hat OpenShift used as the Kubernetes-based container solution.

Kubernetes helped SOS International move to a modern microservices platform on OpenShift, launching greenfield projects, supporting CI/CD automation, and starting a lift-and-shift migration of existing Java applications. The result was improved agility and a dramatically shorter release cycle, along with stronger internal interest in automation and better talent attraction. Kubernetes also gave SOS a path toward future hybrid cloud adoption while it continues transforming core systems for a more digital future.
