Supporting Rapid Development for Millions of IoT Products With Kubernetes

Bose Corporation, the high-quality audio equipment company based in Framingham, Massachusetts, needed a faster way to support its growing fleet of connected IoT products. As demand increased, Bose wanted a platform that would let developers rapidly prototype and deploy services all the way to production, while staying ahead of the scale required by new product launches.

Bose chose **Kubernetes** to power its scaled IoT Platform-as-a-Service on AWS, along with Prometheus monitoring and other CNCF tools such as Fluentd, CoreDNS, Jaeger, and OpenTracing. The result was a highly scalable cloud-native platform serving more than 3 million connected products at launch, supporting 30,000 non-production deployments per year and 1,250+ production deployments in 2018; one production cluster alone now runs 1,800 namespaces and 340 worker nodes.
