How Kubernetes Improved Velocity and DevOps Harmony

ricardo.ch, a Swiss online marketplace, was struggling with slow delivery velocity and a classic divide between Development and Operations. As the company broke its legacy monolith into microservices, it needed a way to orchestrate the new architecture in its own data centers while helping Dev and Ops work more closely together. Kubernetes was selected as the core platform to support this shift, alongside Prometheus and Fluentd.

With Kubernetes, ricardo.ch standardized deployments and enabled teams to collaborate more effectively across development and operations. The company increased production deployments from fewer than 10 per week to 30–60 per day, and infrastructure projects that once took months or years can now be delivered in weeks or days. Kubernetes also helped reduce Dev/Ops friction, improved troubleshooting, and set ricardo.ch on a path toward an expected 50% cost savings as it moves from custom data centers toward cloud services.
