ING, the Amsterdam-based financial services company, wanted a standardized platform to support its agile transformation and help DevOps teams deliver applications faster while staying within strict banking security and compliance requirements. To avoid every team building its own approach, ING looked for a common deployment framework and chose Kubernetes, along with Docker, to support its cloud native and CI/CD efforts.

With Kubernetes, ING is building an internal public cloud and standardizing container deployment across teams, pipelines, monitoring, and logging. The vendor’s platform has helped ING speed delivery from test to acceptance to production, and the company has already converted existing components to cloud native in just 2.5 days during a hackathon. ING says the long-term goal is to move from idea to production in 48 hours, and it has already brought Kubernetes-based projects like Yolt into production.
