Xiachufang, China’s largest cuisine community with around 60 million registered users, needed an API gateway that could efficiently distribute requests, stay simple and stateless, support strong customization, and handle monitoring, alarms, and high traffic at scale. To meet these requirements, Xiachufang evaluated KrakenD as its API gateway solution.

KrakenD was implemented with a live test starting at nearly 2,000 requests per second, and the initial rollout performed well enough for Xiachufang to begin migrating more services progressively. KrakenD was extended with custom monitoring, rate limiting, authentication, and load-balancing features, helping Xiachufang align the gateway with its existing anti-spam and bot-detection strategies while improving performance and scalability.
