API Data Consumption from Multiple Freight Providers

iContainers, an ocean freight forwarder, needed a reliable way to consume and combine data from multiple freight providers across more than 500,000 rates and maritime transport routes. To support its back-office, partners portal, and pricing API, iContainers used KrakenD as a Backend for Frontend for several single-page applications.

KrakenD provided a unified layer to fetch, merge, normalize, and standardize data from multiple providers and APIs into usable endpoints for SPA clients. When provider APIs changed, iContainers only had to update KrakenD’s configuration and redeploy, with no changes required on the client side; the platform has been running without issue at iContainers since 2017.
