A KPMG Case Study

Preview of the Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (lpga) Case Study

LPGA uses KPMG Performance Insights for 20,000 live simulations and a historic Solheim Cup sweep

The Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA) faced a challenge common in professional sports: a lack of sophisticated data and analytics to help athletes diagnose and improve their performance and to better inform strategic decisions for events like the Solheim Cup. To address this, the LPGA partnered with vendor KPMG and its KPMG Performance Insights platform, seeking to use data-driven insights and AI-powered predictive analytics.

KPMG implemented its Performance Insights platform, providing full-field, shot-level data and advanced analytics such as strokes gained and performance indexing. The solution included a new captain’s dashboard and predictive tools for scenario planning. The results were significant, with the US Solheim Cup team achieving a historic first-ever foursome session sweep at the 2023 event. KPMG's data and analytics also helped deepen fan engagement through enhanced broadcasts and social media content.
