Wichita Public Schools integrates 2 SQL Server sources, 20 PeopleSoft tables, and 4 files with KPI Partners

Wichita Public Schools needed to modernize its analytics platform by moving from Cognos to a more modern, secure cloud-based architecture. The district's challenge was to connect its various on-premise data sources to Power BI on Azure while meeting its strict security requirements. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor KPI Partners.

KPI Partners implemented a solution using Azure Data Factory to pull data into an Azure data lake, which was then connected to Azure Synapse Analytics. The team delivered parameterized data pipelines and Power BI reports that verified data integrity and replicated previous Cognos reports. The solution integrated an automated security model by linking the district's Active Directory to Power BI. As a result, Wichita Public Schools gained new insights from its blended data and significantly improved productivity with Power BI compared to its previous Cognos system.
