No Cash is No Problem for Pablo & Rusty’s Cashless Café

Pablo and Rusty's, an Australian coffee roaster and café operator, set out to run a cash‑free venue and had already standardised on kounta as their point‑of‑sale across roastery, offices and cafés. Their challenge was operational: bulky payment hardware slowed service, created queues at the counter and disrupted the fast table turnover and seamless customer experience they aim for in busy sites like their Sydney CBD store.

To solve this, kounta was integrated with a Mint Payments mPOS solution so staff could take EMV and contactless payments (including Apple Pay) at the table via a small Bluetooth card reader. The combined setup removed register bottlenecks, sped up transactions, improved both customer and staff experience, preserved rapid settlement of funds, and helped make the Brisbane cashless outlet a clear success without negatively impacting business operations.
