Portland Children’s Museum - Customer Case Study

Portland Children’s Museum, a long-established children’s museum welcoming over 280,000 visitors annually, faced a major disconnect between its website and daily operations: it could not sell products or workshops online and all web activity had to be manually processed through its retail management system, Microsoft Dynamics RMS. To bridge this gap the museum engaged Kosmos Central for an integrated ecommerce solution.

Kosmos Central redeveloped the museum’s website and implemented ecommerce and point-of-sale integration with Microsoft Dynamics RMS, along with custom shopping-cart design and development so products could be pushed from RMS to the site and web sales downloaded back into RMS. The Kosmos Central solution drove a roughly 33% increase in web traffic (15,000 to 20,000 hits/month), reduced phone volume and labor, allowed the museum to sell out three months of camps and classes in two weeks, and enabled more efficient inventory and reporting.
