Schaeffler Italia, part of the Schaeffler Group, restructured its European logistics through the European Distribution Center (EDC) project to improve market supply, supplier performance and order fulfillment speed. Körber AG acted as general contractor, delivering a best‑of‑breed solution including an automated small‑parts container warehouse, pallet storage, container conveyor and integrated IT (K.Motion PMS‑M, K.Sight PMS‑V) to optimize material flows, capacity use and service levels.

Körber AG installed a four‑aisle automated small‑parts warehouse (44,800 positions), a four‑aisle pallet warehouse (1,860 positions), two order‑picker aisles (1,300 positions), 12 ergonomic pick & pack workstations and SAP EWM integration, achieving up to 1,200 containers/hour throughput and completing the rollout in eight months. The solution increased goods availability and service levels, accelerated order processing and—combined with transport restructuring—delivered a significant reduction in run times across the 17,000 m² EDC South.
