Robert Bosch - Customer Case Study

Robert Bosch Elektronik GmbH’s Salzgitter plant — a nearly 30‑year‑old production and distribution site for engine and gearbox electronics — needed a comprehensive intralogistics modernization without interrupting continuous production that supports Bosch factories worldwide. Körber AG was engaged to carry out a retrofit of the plant’s automated warehouses and controls, using its K.Motion WCS warehouse control system and K.Sight PMS‑V visualization alongside hardware and materials‑handling upgrades.

Körber AG executed a three‑phase retrofit: modernizing the five‑aisle small‑parts warehouse and the five‑aisle high‑bay pallet warehouse, replacing powertrains, guide and conductor rails, SRM controls (to S7), adding camera systems, emergency removal conveyors and running a modular test loop before cutover. Integrated with Bosch’s SAP LES/WM via K.Motion WCS and K.Sight PMS‑V, the project was completed during live operations (major swaps done in a single long weekend) and delivered immediate results — restoring the site to the efficiency of a new installation with a 60% performance increase and reliable nonstop supply to production.
