Johnson & Johnson, a global pharmaceutical and medical devices leader, faced new DSCSA compliance requirements that forced greater transparency across its supply chain. To become fully serialized, gain end-to-end visibility and update WMS/WCS processes for track-and-trace compliance, the company sought a vendor solution and partnered with Körber AG using its STEPLogic Trace product.

Körber AG implemented STEPLogic Trace to provide cradle-to-grave tracking within Johnson & Johnson’s distribution centers, delivering agile tracking of serial numbers and seamless transmission between systems. As a result, Johnson & Johnson became the first major pharmaceutical manufacturer to be completely serialized in 2017—well ahead of the 2023 deadline—and achieved the rollout with a total investment roughly 70% below original estimates.
