Improve warehouse processes with SAP

HAZET-WERK, a German manufacturer of high-quality tools with four factories (including Heinsberg) and over 500 employees, needed to expand capacity at its Heinsberg logistics center and modernize processes across incoming goods, storage, picking (including pick-by-voice), production feeding, packing and shipping. The project required a new manual pallet warehouse and an automatic consolidation buffer with container conveyor technology, plus tight integration into HAZET’s existing SAP landscape. Körber AG was engaged to deliver the warehouse and material flow solution based on SAP EWM and SAP EWM/MFS.

Körber AG implemented SAP EWM as the strategic WMS and used SAP EWM/MFS to map material flow control for the consolidation buffer and conveyors, with a direct SPS connection so no additional material flow server was needed. The solution centrally manages inventory across container, pallet and block warehouses, supports multi-order pick with pick-by-voice (SAP ITSmobile), displays product images at workstations, and integrates packing, weighing and shipping printing. As a result, HAZET-WERK expanded Heinsberg’s capacity, simplified logistics IT administration and support, reduced picking errors and achieved demand-based, shipment-ready provisioning with fewer interfaces.
