Case Study: evo achieves 90 units/hour picking and scalable seasonal capacity with Körber AG AMR solution

A Körber AG Case Study

How our scalable and efficient AMR solution helped evo mitigate the challenges of winter season demand

evo, a multi-channel sports retailer operating a 165,000 sq. ft. warehouse and generating over 70% of its revenue online, struggled with huge seasonal order spikes, staffing shortages and COVID-19 distancing requirements that threatened fulfillment. To solve this, evo partnered with Körber AG to deploy Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) — using Locus Robotics units — as a fast, flexible picking solution.

Körber AG implemented a scalable AMR setup (10 robots for normal periods plus 7 additional units via a Robot-as-a-Service model for peaks) and had robots fully operational in 53 days. The change boosted picking from 35 to 90 units/hour, cut staff in one area from 12–15 to five, delivered near‑error‑free performance, reduced training to 10–15 minutes for temps, and allowed instant capacity increases during peak demand.
