Coca Cola faced a sudden surge of volume at its Antwerp distribution center after moving the majority of external warehousing on-site and needed a flexible, fast and reliable automated picking solution to handle a wide range of SKUs and product formats. Körber AG was selected to deliver its Layer Picker Solution / Layer Picker Technology to replace labor‑intensive manual layer picking and improve throughput, accuracy and pallet quality.

Körber AG implemented a fully automated layer picker system—integrated with the ASRS—featuring a gantry with two picker heads, three transfer cars and conveyors with automatic strapping. The solution handles about 150 layers per hour (up to 200 cycles/hour), manages 110 SKUs simultaneously and uses 144 pallet buffer positions, delivering higher throughput, lower costs, fewer damages and improved safety for operators; Körber AG also provides 24/5 support and twice‑yearly preventive maintenance.
