Deep-freeze warehouse –24°C for baked goods

Lieken, a leading German bread and baked-goods producer, needed increased cold storage capacity and more flexible, automated logistics to respond to changing market conditions at its Lüdersdorf site. Körber AG was engaged to deliver a deep‑freeze high-bay warehouse and intralogistics automation to expand storage and better link production, inventory and dispatch.

Körber AG implemented a fully automated –24°C, 3‑aisle high‑bay warehouse with 6,000 pallet positions, stacker cranes, conveyor loops, pallet inspection, and IT integration (including K.Sight PMS‑V and material flow computer interfaces). The solution provides sequenced dispatching and a continuous cold chain, achieving up to 80 pallets/hour storage and 100 pallets/hour retrieval (about 4,296 pallet movements/day), significantly increasing throughput and operational efficiency at Lieken’s Lüdersdorf site.
