Case Study: Port Taranaki achieves optimized vessel scheduling and real-time operational efficiency with Körber AG's Marine Enterprise Suite

Continual Improvement in Terminal Management

Port Taranaki, New Zealand’s only west‑coast deep‑water port, needed to replace its ageing ship‑planning technology to improve vessel throughput, reduce waiting time and provide a supported, continuously developed system. To achieve a single source of truth with real‑time communication and constraint‑aware scheduling, Port Taranaki selected Körber AG’s Marine Enterprise Suite (MES).

Körber AG implemented MES (K.Motion Marine Enterprise), deploying automated scheduling algorithms that account for local constraints (like under keel clearance), interactive vessel charts and real‑time updates. The solution delivered improved long‑term planning and visibility — automated delay and berth‑occupancy reports, live service timing updates and “what‑if” scenario testing — enabling the port to better accommodate ETAs, optimize berth outages and resource use, maintain efficient operations during COVID‑19 remote working, and reduce operational costs.
