ColdService, a Netherlands‑based specialist in temperature‑sensitive storage founded in 2013, faced rapid growth and needed higher‑density frozen storage to avoid wasted refrigeration energy and increase throughput. Körber AG was engaged to provide a cold‑storage solution, including an automated storage and retrieval system, warehouse management and visualization software, and associated conveyor and handling equipment.

Körber AG implemented a multiple‑depth free‑standing racking high‑bay warehouse with two 22 m stacker cranes using satellite vehicles, embedded interface conveyors and a WMS, adding 12,000 pallet locations while minimizing empty refrigerated space. The automated system doubled ColdService’s input/output rates to 120 pallets per hour, improved flexibility, safety and operator convenience, and optimized energy use and handling for fast‑moving frozen products.
