Boot Barn - Customer Case Study

Boot Barn, the U.S.’s largest western and work apparel retailer with over 200 stores and growing eCommerce, faced inadequate storage, insufficient throughput and heavy reliance on temporary staff as it expanded its Kansas distribution center. To address these challenges, Boot Barn selected Körber AG’s Warehouse Control System (WCS), building on its existing Körber WMS, to integrate and control material handling equipment and support a goods‑to‑person conveyor/carousel layout.

Körber AG’s WCS (implemented by E2 Solutions in two months) centralized control of 48 pick zones and 12 intelligent diverts, automating tote routing, task interleaving and congestion management via a single dashboard. The solution produced measurable results — a 50% improvement in picking productivity and a 25% increase in throughput — while reducing seasonal hiring needs, minimizing implementation impact and delivering a strong ROI, leading Boot Barn to plan further migrations to Körber AG’s WCS.
