Berglandmilch - Customer Case Study

Berglandmilch eGen, one of Austria’s largest dairy cooperatives with 11 plants and the Feldkirchen cheese dairy processing up to one million liters of milk per day, needed to modernize its maturation warehouse intralogistics to cope with rising production and stricter market/hygiene requirements. To upgrade pallet handling and controls without interrupting 24/7 production, Berglandmilch engaged Körber AG to deliver a retrofit of conveyors, controls and material-flow software.

Körber AG implemented a three-step retrofit: a gateway translating Berglandmilch’s AS-400 telegrams to the new S7‑PLC logic, modernization of three stacker cranes, and installation of a new pallet conveyor, K.Motion PMS‑M material flow control and K.Sight PMS‑V visualization, integrated with SAP. The solution was completed in about six months and ran in parallel with legacy systems so production never stopped; result was faster response times, efficient relocations and retrievals, full order allocation via the new shipping section and a warehouse prepared for further growth with a reasonable investment.
