Case Study: DHL achieves higher parcel sorting capacity with Körber AG

DHL Group needed to future-proof its Hamburg Allermöhe parcel center as shipment volumes kept rising, while also connecting a new co-location hall to the existing brownfield site. Körber AG supported the project with extensive sorting technology and intelligent control and coding software, including equipment to integrate the new and existing centers.

Körber AG implemented a compact, integrated sorting solution featuring VarioSort cross-belt sorters, high-speed inductions, conveyor links, scanners, and process control software. In less than a year, the new 9,200-square-meter facility was connected to the original center and now operates either together with it or separately, reaching throughput of up to 23,000 parcels per hour.
