Case Study: USDA APHIS PPQ strengthens pest treatment tracking with Koniag Government Services

PPQ trains 300 inspectors in Peru with Koniag Government Services

The customer, PPQ (Plant Protection Quarantine) of USDA APHIS, required a modernized system to track phytosanitary treatments and protect U.S. crops from invasive pests. They partnered with vendor Koniag Government Services (KGS) to develop the Commodity Treatment Information System (CTIS), a new application built from scratch to replace their legacy platform.

Koniag Government Services developed the complex CTIS using a combination of Azure and AWS platforms. The solution included a successful initial training rollout in Peru, where KGS and USDA officials trained 300 inspectors. This user-friendly system will enhance workflow for U.S. Port Officers and international partners, with the cold treatment module scheduled for go-live on January 1, 2025.
