A Kong Case Study
SoulCycle, a leading cycling fitness brand with 50,000+ riders weekly, faced slow release velocity, a monolithic architecture bottleneck, multi-cloud service management challenges, and difficulty scaling rapidly. To modernize its Podium platform and support aggressive growth, SoulCycle selected Kong Enterprise as its Kubernetes ingress and API gateway to unify services across AWS and GCP and accelerate the move from legacy monoliths to microservices.
Kong was deployed with Kubernetes to manage 30+ microservices across nine environments, providing a single API platform, high-availability clusters, and cross-cloud traffic brokering. The solution enabled an orders-of-magnitude increase in development velocity (from 5–6 releases per week to over 650 releases in 30 days), cut latency by more than half, delivered fault-tolerant horizontal scaling, and streamlined developer onboarding—demonstrating measurable impact on performance and agility.
